I am going to be part of a group exhibition at the Islington Arts Factory and today was the main installation day for the show. As this is the first main public exhibition that I am involved with, where I am also helping to set up, I am learning a lot from this experience.
Today we transported the majority of the works which will be featured in the show. I was personally quite anxious about my painting being moved, (having had other previous mishaps from using fragile materials within my work), however, all was well and everything made it in pristine condition!
Thankfully, our venue is very cooperative and they have been very generous with the amount of setting up time that we have been issued (I might not be quite so lucky in the future). Some of the artists in the show, including myself, worked together to form the layout of the artwork. We took our time, making decisions and adjustments carefully before we began putting the works up.
Slowly but surely, the whole thing starts to feel like it is coming together. We still have a lot to do over the next few days, but it is very satisfying to finally see how preliminary planning is now starting to take shape.
